Maria C. Gonzalez practices with the law firm of Young, Berman, Karpf & Gonzalez, P.A. in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale and Miami offices. She is Board Certified in Marital and Family Law since 1997, is past Chair of The Florida Bar Marital and Family Law Certification Committee, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and has achieved Board Certification in Family Law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Ms. Gonzalez is currently Chair of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar. In 2014, she was appointed to the Supreme Court’s Commission on Professionalism. In 2006, she was instrumental in the drafting and lobbying efforts of the bill which ultimately became law in 2007 titled “Electronic Communication” Florida Statutes, Section 61.13002.
She is past-President of the First Family Law American Inn of Court and is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator. Ms. Gonzalez is a frequent author and lecturer on family law topics and has routinely served as a workshop leader and faculty member of the Family Law Section’s Matrimonial Trial Advocacy Workshops. Since 2007, she has been featured in Florida SuperLawyers and selected as one of the top 5% Marital and Family lawyers in Florida. She has an “AV” rating by Martindale-Hubbell and is listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. Ms. Gonzalez was also recognized for Excellence in the Family Law field by the American Registry and the South Florida Legal Guide as ‘Top Attorney’ in Florida. She also serves her community as a member of The Women’s Fund Miami-Dade which takes the lead in numerous efforts providing resources for women and girls including leadership opportunities and forums for freedom from domestic violence. Ms. Gonzalez resides in Broward County with her husband and two children.
